Pay It Forward

I am posting this article on my 22nd birthday just to share other people’s mistakes and hopefully we can learn something from it. But always remember that “To err is human”.

Apple Inc

Let me start with my favourite company first, Apple Inc. After the success of the movie SlumDog Millionaire, Apple was proud to publish the news about A. R. Rahman’s secret behind the score in which he use Logic. On top of the excitement, we have found a mistake which probably still have not changed until now. “Jai Ho” anyone?

Jai Ho?

Richard Branson

For such a great person, he deserves more than this. Forget about the Search Engine Optimization, we just don’t see any relevancy for having the three dashes. I understand that the permalinks is generated automatically by WordPress platform however I hope that he didn’t pay thousands of USD to someone or some company just to maintain this blog.

Note: If Richard Branson were to read this article, it would be an honour to meet him in person or receive a book with his autograph. That will make me smile for my birthday!

T-Mobile Life’s for sharing

Just like Apple, we believe that T-Mobile have drowned into their own excitement after the launch of their viral campaign, Life’s for sharing. They want you to dance, but they don’t actually dance together with you. Look at the control bar from left to right (movie slider, 0:00 time, volume contron), isn’t that really obvious? They could have done better by not putting it there.

Tmobile reflective mistakes

In terms of design, I thought that their padding-left CSS properties for #top-container p should be 394px instead of 410px. Other than that, they could also separate the div into three sections while floating the paragraph tag to the right with padding along with the modification.

Conclusion

I have personally worked with Smashing Magazine, WooThemes, SitePoint and maybe soon Wolda. I don’t expect anything in return but I hope they will pay it forward.
