The job is to design candidates menifestos for the coming Non-Sabbatical Officer By-Elections 2008/09 which is going to be held on the 3rd and 4th November 2008. I was assigned with two candidates and 2 hours time is allocated for each. At the end of the hour, I should have everything ready to print.
Design process
- Ice-breaking session. (5 minutes)
- Design brief. (10 minutes)
- Data collection and design sketches + mock up. (15 minutes)
- Implementation. (≈1 hour)
- Final touch. (15 minutes)
There are two main challenges that I learn to cope in this project. One is to work with a limited time period and two is to cater the needs of the client. I learn to buy time and break the barrier between client and designer by having them (the candidates) to look at few templates before the ice-breaking session. It is solely for them to get some picture on how their menifesto and poster should look like. Some like simple and minimal while others like feminine and swirl graphics.
