Priceless tools

Currently, I am working on few projects with local and overseas clients. At some point, I thought it would be really good to get organized and in fact, it is one of my new year’s resolutions. Thus, I have decided to purchase few online services which can assist me on project management and finance. I am glad to announce that starting from now, all of my clients will have the experience using these powerful tools.

Project Management

I choose BaseCamp for my project management tool. It is an online tool which enable collaboration between me and my clients at any time anywhere. Here are few features that I love to use in BaseCamp:

  • To-Do list (Cool because after you put the tick, it will automatically cross over the list)
  • Writeboards (I use it to write documentations of the project)
  • Message (This allow you to send messages to your clients/contributors regarding the status of the project)
  • File upload (Imagine how organized you are when all the files are uploaded here which means no more searching it in your email)
  • Milestones (Time tracking/Deadline utility)
  • Overview (List of your progress on certain project)

At the moment, I’m working on a website and forum for the UKEC-Graduan Career Fair 2009 organized by the United Kingdom and Eire Council for Malaysian Students, UKEC and they are really happy to work on the project using the BaseCamp. Furthermore, I love when they express how professional I am when working with them. On my part, I would say BaseCamp made it possible for me to be more professional towards all of my clients.

Finance

F is for finance and f is for FreshBooks. I have talked about it before but this time I have upgraded my account so that I can add on more clients for the invoicing/billing purposes. It is perfect for all and I bet they have picked up the right tag line, painless billing. Other than that, I also use it for time tracking and my expanse management. Their marketing coordinator, Rayanne Langdon also replied to me on twitter and told me that I am a rockstar! I would say I never regret signing up for FreshBooks. Try it!

I do not care if I am not a millionaire, because the professional values that I seek is priceless. With money you can buy people but not their trust. For that, I thank you BaseCamp and FreshBooks!

My advice is just do what you love and try to increase your value. I’m not good enough but what I’m trying to do is to follow successful people. Once they are gone, you’re the next person. :) Good luck!
