As you know, I also run a side project called LENSA. So far, it has been really successful that I think about it everyday. My team mate, Shamin is really supportive in a sense that he shared all his knowledge in the field of photography. He read a lot of books and and watched a lot of videos about photography and I bet he is going to be some pro in the field of photography if he constantly doing what he already did.

Lately, we have been to Cardiff and London to cover two major events such as Cardiff Malaysian European Games (CEG 2009) and the gig featuring Malaysian (Estrella and Seven Collar T-Shirt) and local bands (The Stowaways). We are on fire for few days despite what had happened to us! We hope that this project will be successful and who knows we are the next Larry and Brian of Google Inc.

Twitter

You can google about it if you still do not know what it is – or you can read what I said about twitter on previous post. Personally, twitter gave me so much exposure and quick update about what is happening in the internet especially in the design industry. I am not sure if twitter is any good or useful for you or not, you just have to decide. The choice is yours.

Project Management

I choose BaseCamp for my project management tool. It is an online tool which enable collaboration between me and my clients at any time anywhere. Here are few features that I love to use in BaseCamp:

• To-Do list (Cool because after you put the tick, it will automatically cross over the list)
• Writeboards (I use it to write documentations of the project)
• Message (This allow you to send messages to your clients/contributors regarding the status of the project)
• File upload (Imagine how organized you are when all the files are uploaded here which means no more searching it in your email)
• Milestones (Time tracking/Deadline utility)
• Overview (List of your progress on certain project)

At the moment, I’m working on a website and forum for the UKEC-Graduan Career Fair 2009 organized by the United Kingdom and Eire Council for Malaysian Students, UKEC and they are really happy to work on the project using the BaseCamp. Furthermore, I love when they express how professional I am when working with them. On my part, I would say BaseCamp made it possible for me to be more professional towards all of my clients.

Finance

F is for finance and f is for FreshBooks. I have talked about it before but this time I have upgraded my account so that I can add on more clients for the invoicing/billing purposes. It is perfect for all and I bet they have picked up the right tag line, painless billing. Other than that, I also use it for time tracking and my expanse management. Their marketing coordinator, Rayanne Langdon also replied to me on twitter and told me that I am a rockstar! I would say I never regret signing up for FreshBooks. Try it!

I do not care if I am not a millionaire, because the professional values that I seek is priceless. With money you can buy people but not their trust. For that, I thank you BaseCamp and FreshBooks!

In terms of efficiency: I have used several softwares and add-ons which eliminates the redundancy of doing simple work such as highlighting, copy and paste, typing username and password, etc. Check out these softwares and add-ons that I found useful and it is highly recommended.

• Ubiquity (An experiment into connecting the Web with language)
• 1Password (Password Manager and Form Filler)
• iShowU & Quicktime Pro (For screen recording and podcast)
• MacHeist‘s Process (Project management)

Community work: Whenever I am free, I will spend my time doing my side projects for the community. Mainly tutorial @ iluvislam (design tutorial and technology – written in my first language), ISAC Studio (Islamic Arts Club) and lensa.co.uk (photography). These are few major achievements for my community-based project:

• 450+ RSS Subscribers (tutorial@iluvislam + ISAC Studio)
• Scheduled posts for full month of February (tutorial@iluvislam)

At my desktop, I put a word document file with the title articles(*.odt) and whenever I don’t have anything to do, I will do some research using the internet and write one or two articles. Each articles that has been put to schedule, I will then leave a simple note at the end of the title (e.g: … – done). Apart from that, when I come across a good website or anything useful, the first thing that I usually do is to copy the link and paste it in the file. That is how I manage to prepare full month of scheduled posts.

Design is what I love, that is what you will find at my twitter page.

• Since I love to play atmosphir, I design an atmosphir wallpaper for all. Beware, the “Play” button isn’t clickable!

I have also run a new website, http://malaysiangames.co.uk/. The main idea of this website is to create a hub where all Malaysians can promote their events at a common ground. At the end of the day, only one domain name they need to remember – MalaysianGames.co.uk (Watch video)
