SVN – Done. Next – GIT

I just finished one web development project. Within a month time, there are a lot of things that I have acquired which includes new knowledge, friends and not forgetting personal life experience (which I’ll share later).

New knowledge

Subversion and Git Hosting.

The first thing that I learn is knowing how use subversion (SVN) in web development. I never use svn before, so I took my chance to learn in.

Few weeks later, I browse through job sites such as Authentic Jobs to see the what the market would expect from web designer. I found out that some of the jobs require the knowledge of svn.

It is not that hard to learn but the knowledge that you have might separate you from the guy next to you. So, keep on learning and don’t be afraid to try.

Next: Learn about git. Thanks to my friend, @bearwithclaws for the link.

In conclusion,

  • Keep learning something new to add value to yourself.
  • Do same thing faster, more efficient with less effort. In short, be productive.
  • Just don’t stop!

I need time!

In my recent conversation on twitter:

@iwani: banyaknye stuffs nak buat, pening ah! (Plenty of stuff to finish, headache!)

@mohdrafie: @iwani need help? support?
@iwani: @mohdrafie need time

In which I later replied:

I like the concept of time. You have 24 hours a day. With a team of three, you get 72 hours. That’s how you get more time.

And she replied:

When you have to work in stages amongst team, and there is a limited amount of time. How?

Which I believe we brought us back to square one. Team can either be vertical or horizontal. If there are stages while you have more work, in my opinion, I believe you should expand vertically.

Or are we just wishing for the wrong things? Shouldn’t we ask for more people rather than more time?

You can follow the conversation here and don’t forget to click the “in reply to…”

I let you to decide.
