Profile

Q: Tell me about yourself.

A: I was born on the 6th of June 1987 in Malaysia. Few months before I was born, my parents had started thinking what name should be given to their first baby boy. God sent them inspiration and I was named Mohd Rafie which mean the praiseworthy, respected and high.

I spent most of my time in my hometown, Johor Bahru. At the age of 13, I left home to continue my studies in boarding school and college. Now, I’m in Cardiff University, United Kingdom. Besides studying, I am also a graphic and web designer.

Q: How many years have you been designing?

A: An average of 6 years.

Q: How may you describe your passion in graphic and web designing?

A: I’ve already started designing websites when Yahoo! was using table-based layout for their website. In 2002, I won my first website design competition at National level. I did it again in 2003.

Just before I made a hat-trick, I was sabotaged. After years, now I can say I improve a lot. From table-based to tableless, from html to xhtml. Above all, I love what I’m doing now.

Q: Who have you worked with?

A: The latest was Cardiff University Student Union, Cardiff Racing (Formula Student), SMSA Women, iLuvIslam, MMC, Student Representative Council of PETRONAS University of Technology (UTP), KS Berkat Enterprise and few individuals.

Q: If you don’t have client, what will you do?

A: That’s a good question really. As the president of Islamic Arts Club (ISAC Studio), I sometimes deal with any issues that arise. It’s a new organization and we are trying to present the Islamic arts towards people. You can visit our website at http://www.isacstudio.com/.

Besides that, I am also the web consultant and designer for iLuvIslam. Different from ISAC Studio, iLuvIslam.com is an online community portal. Ranging from general issues to Islamic laws, education to recipies, we always trying to improve our portal hopefully it will benefit our visitors.

Q: It seems like you are a multi-talented person. Any comments on that?

A: I just love what I do and I want to give my very best. In this design industry, I dream of becoming a top designer while on the other hand, I also dream of representing my country for the Commonwealth Games in small bore rifle shooting. (Bang!)

Q: Any last words?

A: I want to meet my Designer. Find me on LinkedIn or follow me on twitter. Thanks!
